No. Enqodo makes static QR codes – the data lives inside the code itself, so there's nothing on a server to switch off or renew, and it keeps working for good. Many so-called free generators quietly make your code dynamic (routed through their server) so it can be shut off later unless you pay. We don't.

Around 2,300 characters of plain text – accents, emoji and non-Latin scripts take more space, so fewer fit. Shorter is better anyway: less text makes a coarser code that scans reliably even when printed small.

Anything that should work without internet: instructions on equipment, gift messages, scavenger hunt clues, geocaching, serial numbers on parts. If the person scanning shouldn't need a connection, plain text beats a link.

A static code stores its data inside the code – fixed, free and impossible to switch off. A dynamic code stores a link on a server and redirects, so it can be edited and tracked, but it depends on that service staying on. Enqodo makes static codes.
